Research - Society’s Research Strategy A  A  A

RESEARCH

One of the ways that the A-T Society seeks to defeat A-T is by funding and promoting research into the condition. For many people this is one of the most important things that we do – and certainly if we are to rid the world of the effects of A-T, the answer is likely to come from research.

Over the years the Society has invested over £750,000 on research. We have made grants to support research in a wide range of different ways. We have funded basic research, clinical trials, research posts, equipment and the participation of scientists at specialist A-T conferences.

While this compares reasonably well with other similar organisations, the Board is keen to increase both the amount and the proportion we spend – while always ensuring that we invest in high-quality, valuable research.

To set out how we do this, the Society has agreed a brand new Research Strategy. With input from experts from the UK and abroad, the strategy sets out what we want to achieve through research and what are priorities are going to be in the years to come.
